چکیده
An in vitro experiment was conducted to determine the impact of silage produced from selected varieties sorghum on microbial fermentation profile cows’ ruminal fluid. To main products, fluid samples were obtained Polish Holstein–Friesian cows. Serum bottles filled with 80 mL samples, and 1 g one following substrates added: corn (CS), grass (GS), rye (RS), (sweet) (SS1), (grain) (SS2) or (dual-purpose) (SS3). The serum flushed CO2 fermented for 8 24 h at 39 °C. After incubation, gas rumen then analysed methane volatile fatty acid (VFA) contents using chromatography. use (SS) resulted a decrease total concentration VFA compared other silages, especially GS. Moreover, contained lower molar proportion propionic butyric acids when SS used CS. higher than RS samples. differences chemical composition between did not influence profile. A production, but without effects methanogenesis, observed GS analysis demonstrates physiological processes rumen, as evidenced by products fermentation. advantage is that addition SS, irrespective plant variety, reduced production analyzed may be diets dairy cows substitute silages.

Effect of maize silage to grass silage ratio and feed particle size on ruminal fermentation in vitro.
The effect of the forage source on ruminal fermentation in vitro was investigated for fine (F) and coarse (C) milled diets, using a modified Hohenheim gas production test and a semi-continuous rumen simulation technique (Rusitec). It was hypothesised that the replacement of maize silage by grass silage might lead to associative effects and that interactions related to particle size variation co...
متن کاملBlood gases and metabolite content and ruminal fermentation in response to diets with different fermentability in Holstein dairy cows
The objective of this study was to determine the effects of diets having different fermentability on blood gases, blood metabolites and ruminal fermentation parameters in Holstein dairy cows. Four multiparous Holstein dairy cows (665 ± 25 kg BW, 170 ± 7.0 DIM and 15±1.5 kg of milk yield), fitted with rumen cannulae, were used in a 4×4 Latin Square design with 28-d periods. Corn starch and sucro...

This paper reviews the use of maize silage in pastoral dairying systems in New Zealand. The evolution of dairying systems to make profitable use of maize silage and other supplementary feeds has occurred during the last decade in conjunction with an increased use of maize silage. When used within recommended levels of feeding, maize silage provides a low cost source of starch and fibre which co...
متن کاملEffects of Fat Supplementation and Chop Length on Milk Composition and Ruminal Fermentation of Cows Fed Diets Containing Alfalfa Silage
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of fat supplementation for enhancing milk conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in early lactation without affecting ruminal fermentation. 24 Holstein dairy cows were assigned to a completely randomized design employing a 2 × 4 factorial arrangement. Factors were particle size (15 and 25 mm) and two different sources of alfalfa supplemented with and wit...
متن کاملThe effect of protein supplementation on nitrogen utilization in lactating dairy cows fed grass silage diets.
The study set out to examine the effects of supplementing grass silage with various levels of protein concentration and degradability on dietary nitrogen (N) excretion in lactating dairy cows consuming at least 60% forage. Six Holstein/Friesian cows in early to midlactation were offered six diets comprising two levels of crude protein (210 and 290 g/kg DM) and three levels of protein degradabil...
